Discussing Course Design: Forward, Central, Backward, and Beyond!
Join the CPET community for a discussion on the myriad of ways to design a course! We'll start with a brief primer on different styles of course design, including forward, central, and backward design. We'll then discuss the pros and cons of implementation, including in what situations one style might be preferred over the others. During the discussion, we'll be building off of your own experiences as a student, TA, or instructor. Please come prepared with a course structure (objectives, assessments, and activities) in mind; although you do not need to bring any physical item to the discussion, something like a syllabus may be helpful to jog your memory.
